899Movies has over 3479 videos available to view, but there are no photo galleries to be had here. The videos are available in WMV format for the most part, and they display at 480x360 (750kbps).
899 Movies is the latest in a recent run of video download sites that are vying for your patronage, with this one being probably cheaper than any of the other sites I’ve ever seen. So immediately this site has a fair bit behind it to recommend it over those other download sites, and another way that this site succeeds is that it has so much available to download.
Strangely, it hasn’t been updated for a month after being updated every day before then. Hopefully normal service will be resumed quite soon. 899 Movies tends to opt more for content from studios that are less well known, so if you’re concerned about having seen all of this before, you shouldn’t as other such sites tend to use bigger studios.
Lots of categories are covered here, more perhaps than you might expect, plus what was interesting was that the site wasn’t afraid to cover slightly older material instead of just focusing on the newest releases.
User Interface
The site has a reasonable navigation that works fine but could do with a couple of additions. The main index of videos is simple enough to get around.
There isn’t really enough information about them at all in terms of which stars star in which clip. The video downloads are decent though and are split into scenes, rather helpfully. The updates were really regular though, which is always a good point.
Conclusion
899 Movies is a rather splendid video and DVD download site that rather strangely seems to have been overlooked when it comes down to being compared with the best sites in this category.
The library of titles is extensive and widespread, whilst the quality is extremely good and different on the whole. Not a great deal about this is worth moaning about – so get subscribing!
