Step inside the members' area and you're presented with countless links to galleries, models, webcams, third-party contributed content, and a 'community' section for other fun stuff like erotic stories and horoscopes.
Let's take this review in small chunks and start with the photos. Photo galleries on BadPuppy are not cohesive-- that is, the sets are not necessarily shot by people for BadPuppy. On the landing page in the members' area, you'll see a section labeled new photo content.
This is all third-party content ranging from retail sites for gay travel books and g-string bathing suits, to some hit-or-miss action sets and everything in between. There's also a section at the top navigation called “gallery photos,” which is another menu of third-party photo content.
To get to the BadPuppy sets, go to the top navigation instead and click on “model pictures.” You'll get a thumbnailed list of nearly 1,300 models. Click on your favorite guy and you'll get to his photosets, where you can navigate through his photoset(s).
The thumbnails appear in a frame on the left side, so you can click wherever in the set you like to get to the action. Quality overall is great, though the photos are small at 600x400. Sets are available for zipped download, which is a nice touch.
There are two different video sections-- one for streaming video, one for small downloadable video clips. The streaming content is all third-party stuff in just about any category you can imaging-- from hard bodies, to Randy Blue videos, to Latino hunks.
Since the sites are run by a variety of people, you'll get a variety of quality, navigation, and so on. However, there are no 'catches' that I found; all of the third-party content offered is actually included in your membership (and there's a TON of third-party content).
The video clip section has just as many categories to choose from from third parties, though this section include BadPuppy video clips that you can download in short WMV, MPG, and some Real Media format. As you might expect, the quality and resolution varies from site to site.
In addition to the massive amount of content, you get a lot of other features. There's a chat area linked to Gay.com, a very active members' forum, a members profile area, a very cool gay video review section, a shopping section, a bunch of live sex sites, magazines, erotic stories, and more.
It takes a bit to get used to how the members' area works. It's a little disorienting to constantly be taken to one third-party site after another. Luckily, there's a section on
BadPuppy where you can edit your favorite links.
Go there and you're presented with a massive list of all the contributors to the site. Uncheck what you don't like and your landing page changes accordingly. This feature is practically necessary on a huge site like this, and it really helps the navigation experience.
You'll also notice that some of the sections label the third-party content for whether it has upsells or not, which is a very user-friendly notation.
Currently, BadPuppy is looking to “trim the fat” from the site, so they're actively soliciting member input as to what they want to see. Seems that the site owners actually care about the quality of their site.
BadPuppy is one of the most content-rich gay sites I've seen, even if the majority of the content is third party. You literally cannot get bored here. It'll probably take your first month's membership just to figure out your favorite links to put together your customized home page.
It's easy to get sucked into the entire experience, jumping from streaming video, to the members' forum, to sex chat, to the erotic stories.... you get the idea.
My one main warning (aside from the possible addiction to the site) is that you do get some pretty outdated-looking content here and there, photos and videos included. What a massive value for the money, though, and guaranteed you'll be rebilling for all you get for your dollar.
