The One With The Free Porn....Question

For all its pappiness, Friends was occasionally a sitcom that got it absolutely right on the money. None more so than in The One With The Free Porn.
So why are paysites so reluctant to give away freebies as an enticement to buying memberships?
So today I had the pleasure of reviewing Cybererotica (full review coming soon) and was actually gobsmacked to find that they were giving away a free trial. After over 1000 sites that I'd reviewed, this was the first paysite that I'd seen that offered a free trial. And I think that this is not only amazing, but quite frankly criminal as well.
OK, I quite understand your smaller, upcoming sites not giving away such deals. If you've only got a few updates then you could percievably get through the whole lot without paying a penny. But for a site as large as Cybererotica I think it's more than reasonable to expect a free trial. Hell, some sites don't even offer you full site access on a PAID free trial, so you can see what we're up against here. Frankly, a few seconds' clip on the tour of one or two videos is not exactly going to persuade me to buy in to any site.
Now I'm not suggesting that every site should give away a free trial, far from it. I just think it's surprising that this is the first that I've ever seen on my travels, and I do think that certain sites are missing a trick here. As long as they use the trial right, they could potentially make themselves a hell of a lot of money. Cybererotica might deserve praise for adding in the free trial option but ultimately it doesn't use it as well as it should.
I mean, asking members to pay just under $40 a month after offering them free stuff is quite silly, really. I mean, you are dangling this carrot in front of people and then essentially catapulting in to the distance in one fell swoop. It's not really clever.
You should probably make like Chandler and Joey and keep flicking around those cable channels - just in case.
