Deaf Porn
Savannah Jane is one of the very few full-time deaf adult stars around.
In its own unique way, the porn industry is one that I believe attempts to cater for most tastes and most backgrounds. But when it comes to catering for the hard of hearing, it's never really tried that hard.
Some might say there's no market for such catering - most people don't care about the sound in porn and most people have probably turned off the sound in porn sometime or another, especially if they want to watch porn incognito.
But for deaf people, it would be nice to actually have the choice to know what's being said or uttered in a porn film. And for you wags out there who might suggest that signing porn might be a pretty nice job, there's more to it than that.
This story highlights a new company that not only produces porn specifically tailored for the deaf and people who are hard of hearing, but also hires only those who have hearing difficulties to their company.
It's a pretty sparse world for those who suffer from some kind of blindness or deafness - the world of porn can be a pretty unwelcoming land, and such developments can only be a step in the right direction.
I suspect it would be a whole lot more difficult for such developments to come about as a result of trying to cater for the visually impaired market. But how about a site that only uses visually impaired performers? That might be a good start.
