Pirates 2 Grabs Mainstream Publicity

The original Pirates movie cover.
Porn in the daytime? You betcha!
Okay, maybe it's not strictly porn in the proper sense of the word, it's just an advert for it. But still, considering how ultra-conservative TV is over there in the States generally speaking, this is a remarkable breakthrough.
The timing of Pirates 2 couldn't be better timed of course, riding on a literal wave of publicity that is being drummed up by Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and pretty much being on course already to being one of the most successful porn movies of all time.
I've seen the original. I wasn't enormously enamoured with it, despite the presence of the lovely Teagan Presley. I don't like this new generation of big-budget porn films that are trying to look like 'proper' films. If I want to watch proper films, then I will do.
But one wonders if this exposure on mainstream cable TV will open the market for other titles to follow suit? Well, speaking of titles, the completely innocent title concocted here will certainly have helped this film's cause.
One can't help but suspect that an ad slot wouldn't be so forthcoming for the next German Goo Girls release.
