Porn In Video Games

A gallery of girls you can see on Pocket Pool, all of whom possess great ball control, presumably
The phrase 'pocket pool' hitherto referred to the 'art' of a gentleman playing with his private parts within the (hopefully) secure surroundings of his trouser pockets.
This new PS2 game is about to bring an entirely new meaning to the phrase however!
With backing by J Stephen Hicks, the splendidly talented chap behind the likes of the wonderful Digital Dreamgirls, this is certainly a game that could turn a few heads in the adult industry as a way of potentially seeping into popular culture, albeit by a somewhat unusual route.
The history of rudeness or pornographic imagery in computer and video games is not exactly a long and detailed one. Until recently, when games such as the Grand Theft Auto series started using or referring to matters in the adult industry, there has been very little in the video game industry that you could really drool over. It's worth noting that Jenna Jameson, who is currently in mainstream headlines after splitting from her husband, voiced one of the characters in the Vice City game from the aforementioned series - an XXX-rated pornstar called Candy Suxxx.
Even so, the industry doesn't really show much sign of crossing over into this medium. I think this is quite strange when you bear in mind how strong a hold on the video game market Japan has. Japan, of course, produces a huge percentage of animated porn or 'hentai', and with anime stylings so integral to many games from that country, you'd have expected to see quite a lot of that type of thing creep into video games.
Looking back further, there isn't much to remark on that has made it in to mainstream game-playing realms. I'm sure there are and have been lots of pornographic stuff created on the black market and underground game-producing circuits, but aside from the occasionally racy antics of Leisure Suit Larry and the occasional tame strip poker game that made it on to the Commodore 64 system years and years ago now (and the poor graphics meant you could barely distinguish a nipple from a leg) there is very little worth remarking on.
But with video game producers having only relatively recently (comparatively speaking) started creating titles specifically aimed at adult audiences, it may be a case that an invasion of adult imagery and pornographic titles is only just around the corner. That's certainly a prospect worth grabbing your joystick over.
