With Ron Jeremy having just released his autobiography, one has to ask the question whether the Hedgehog Of Humping is as big a star as is generally accepted - inside porn and outside porn.

A couple of years ago, Jeremy starred in a reality TV series over here in the UK called The Farm. The previous series had been an unexpectedly amusing and cult success, which they completely failed to replicate in the second series in which he featured.

I'm presuming he was attempting to carve some kind of mainstream recognition for himself in the UK, but it never really happened. Not through any fault of his - he was by far the most entertaining contestant on a complete clusterfuck of a show.

But with Jenna Jameson, his female opposite in terms of being arguably the biggest star from her genre in the history of porn, also searching for mainstream appreciation, it's worth suggesting that if he doesn't manage to break into the mainstream A-list then nobody in porn ever will.

Could it be because he's not actually as big or good a pornstar as is widely recognised though? In some circles, Jenna is criticised for a lack of range in her performances and an inability to try her hand at different niches. Jeremy, meanwhile, is criticised as being a star very much from the past who might never have made it in the ultra-buff filled new millennium.

Then again, the fact that he's shagged his way through thousands of girls even though he looks like one of the Super Mario Brothers is surely a testament to his skills? Either way, he's probably still got some more hard work to do yet.
