Vivid Sues PornoTube

Vivid - not amused by you freeloaders.
The onset of free, user-submitted porn sites was bound to, at some point, raise the ire of one or another of the big porn companies out there. It was just a question of how long and, more pertienently, which one?
As it turns out, it happens to be Vivid that have taken umbridge at such sites, as reported here. It's not a surprise to me but the online porn industry needs to be careful how it polices its particular line of content.
The article actually doesn't go into enough detail for me. As some of you will know, if you sign up as an affiliate to a webmaster program, a system favoured by 99% of paysites, then many of them will offer you a LOT of free porn almost immediately.
Why? Well, they call it promo content. The idea being you can put this content on your sites through which you can attract sales and earn yourself money. Except the proviso is that you must only use them on your sites.
If the article went into more detail, it could easily have gone into more detail about how that system could be exploited to earn people money on user-submitted sites like this by using promo videos and the suchlike.
But the fact is that if they are clamping down on sites using free content on sites such as these, then sites such as Freeones, which built their entire empire around such things, will be the next ones in line.
If they are bothered about content that was paid for, then that's fair enough, I suppose. They still need to take care though, and maybe they shouldn't release so much free content in the first place.
