| Classic Porn Box is a large and reasonably priced collection of classic porn videos, dating back to the early 1970s, and featuring some classic porn stars as well as performers who are still going strong to this very day.
As well as featuring the obvious titles that you would expect to see on a classic porn site, it also features a lot of forgotten titles that you may not remember. This is your chance to catch up with them and remember them though!
Content
This site currently contains a total of 610 full length movies. The videos are available in WMV, MPEG and DivX formats at a best size of 640x480 (1500kbps), although sizes do vary from video to video. Currently the site is updated several times per week.
There are new retro sites springing up all the time these days but it looks to me as though Classic Porn Box could have been around for a fair amount of time judging by the large collection they have on board here. Ultimately, retro sites don’t have much room for manoeuvre in terms of content - they mostly feature the same thing. If you haven’t seen Deep Throat and Debbie Does Dallas by now then there must be something wrong with you, frankly!
So really, with these types of sites it’s a case of whether the videos look good, play well, have transferred nicely and whether it is competitively priced. Well, the answer to all these questions is yes, which bodes well for this site. There are a few undiscovered gems here and the performers featured were impressive too - nice to see Gloria Leonard featured especially, so really on the content side there wasn’t much else they could do.
User Interface
The presentation, however, continues to prove my theory that retro sites pretty much always suck when it comes to presentation. Actually, that may be a little strong, but it still wasn’t great.
You can only download videos in complete length, which really is an utter pain in the backside. The video options are non-existent. The information about the videos was okay though, but a proper index page was needed for all the performers.
Conclusion
Classic Porn Box is, on its own, a perfectly good retro site, especially when judged solely on its content. There is a good selection of titles here and a large archive that will keep you busy for quite some time.
It just doesn’t really do anything that the raft of other such sites out there do, and like most of those, it doesn’t really distinguish itself on the presentation side of things. If it’s your first such classic site though, I do recommend it.
