DaddyLover is a site that tries very hard to handle every aspect of the gay lifestyle as seen through the point of view of men who love older men.
If mature masculinity is what gets you hard and keeps you awake long into the evening then this is a site worth considering.
With a live chat room, dating site style search system, adult video offerings, intra-site mail and more, DaddyLover is a site that tries to be everything you have looked for online all in one.
When I first found
DaddyLover I was very excited to step inside. The site promised a feature video area, a live chat room, a dating site, a mail system and more for a price of only $10.00 a month.
In fact, Standard Membership is free but grants only limited use while upgrading to a Premium Membership is supposed to provide full use of all the site has to offer.
With the Premium Membership I found that I was able to use the chat room and member search features, I was also able to browse the available videos offered on the site but when I tried to download a video the site asked me to upgrade my account.
A premium access membership is $9.99 for 30 days, an all-access video membership is $19.99 for 30 days, and a one-year all access video membership is $99.99.
I went back to access the chat room and after four tries I never found a time when there were more than three people listed in the chat room lobby. Even at different times of the day or night and on different days the chat system seemed nearly empty.
When I entered chat and started speaking I never got a reply from any of the few people that were supposedly in the room so while it’s possible they were busy or away from their keyboards, the experience was definitely less than thrilling.
Next I tested the online dating section of the site. According to the site counter there are 3,355 people listed on the site from all over the world.
The profiles were very basic with about a dozen responses to simple questions like Do You Smoke and a text description that varied anywhere from 1 sentence to a couple of paragraphs.
Each profile had a total of one picture, no video and no sound. Quite honestly it was a watered down version of old time AOL dating type content. Nothing about it made the system stand out or made it particularly fun to use.
The
DaddyLover interface is a simple blue and white color scheme with a long list of linked site advertisements at the bottom of some pages.
It uses very basic html links to navigate and while each area of the site is easy to find, none are particularly catchy. The site is really lacking in eye-candy.
Even the logo for the site itself looks like something you would expect to find on the cover of new accounting software.
The site claims to be version 2.0 and while I assume that means it is better than version 1.0 was, at this pace it will be version 9.0 before DaddyLover is really ready for prime time.
Overall,
DaddyLover seems like a site that is honestly trying to serve its members but it really needs to settle down and focus on one aspect or another until it has a quality product before tackling another kind of content.
If they put their effort into making a great chat system or a great dating system or a great video system I don’t doubt they could make one.
Instead they are building mediocre versions of each and tying them together with a lackluster interface to create a site that is not the best at any of what it does.
