The site currently features over 210 videos, and around 2300 photo galleries, submitted by almost 2000 different contributors. Most photos are available to view at size of 768x1024.
The video content is mostly available in MPEG and WMV formats, with a general display of 320x240 (600kbps). Updates are made twice per day.
It was two years ago almost to the day that I first saw I Shot Myself. At that point it was a burgeoning little site built around an intriguing promise that was getting by off the back of some occasionally inspired amateur content, but almost no videos.
Things have changed quite dramatically, particularly on the latter point. A notable drive has meant that the video count is now comfortably over 200, and coupled with contributions from nearly 2000 different models (or ‘artists’ as they are known here), IShotMyself has grown into a phenomenal site that is no longer little.
It’s difficult to really describe the content here adequately. There is no sex or masturbation here, or any real ‘sexual’ content. This is based around nudity and naturism, with the site attempting to tie these facets in to the old Andy Warhol concept of being famous for 15 minutes.
Except, I’m not sure if he necessarily expected people to achieve their fame through internet nudity! As such, you really do get a disparate selection of characters performing in a really varied selection of ways and means.
The range of content and indeed performers here is quite remarkable. You might suspect that it would nudge slightly towards lots of Goths and punks by the looks of things, but you get loads of glamorous blondes as well.
There is someone for everyone here. Not all the submissions made to IShotMyself are included, I must point out – they are selected based on the quality of their photography and content.
I don’t have a problem with this, but one small question mark I would raise is that not enough of the performers make return appearances from what I could see.
I don’t think you’ll be awe-struck by the quality of the navigation but it’s good enough for you to get around, I would say.
The search facility allows you to search different types of sets reasonably well, and there are excellent biographies provided for each and every model that is featured on the site.
The download speeds on the videos were excellent as well. The forum was also really good, although I couldn’t register for it. Not sure if this was because I was using a reviewer’s account though. The layout is good if occasionally cluttered.
I Shot Myself set out to be something a little bit different and a site with a very specific purpose in mind, and it certainly shines through in its content. I do enjoy a site that is actually trying to achieve something.
Although it isn’t porn in the strictest sense of the word, this is adult entertainment that sets out to prove that the medium can be as artistic and creative as ‘higher’ forms of art can be. IShotMyself is a breath of fresh air.
