Brittney Skye is one of those pornstars who has adorned herself
with a name that is easily open to misspelling. She's never had any ‘aliases'
as such, just the annoyance of people who make her films not being sure how you
spell that name of hers. However you spell her name though, she's carved
out a very successful adult career as an all-round performer with a particular
leaning towards hardcore content.
Brittney Skye started her in 1999 according to her, although
many sources suggest that she started in 2001. She certainly started her hardcore
career in that year, but she entered the industry in general in pretty much
orthodox manner 2 years beforehand after attending a photo-call and getting
a pretty immediate response. At that time, the industry couldn't have
enough blonde bombshell performers, so it seemed something of a no-brainer that
she'd get the call.
But Brittney quickly portrayed a determination to succeed despite her archetypal
American sweetheart porn looks, a determination that would lead her to make
the move behind the camera for several movies a few years later into her career.
Many believe Brittney Skye's hardcore debut came in the
movie More Dirty Debutantes 213, a fairly low-key debut by
all accounts, but it would set in play a very quick sequence of appearances
which would see her appearance count rise rapidly.
Indeed, in an industry where quantity is desired from performers as much as
quality (most titles are sold on the strength of a name rather than the strength
of a performance, much like most performance industries), her rate of work is
regarded as exceptional even by their standards. To date Brittney Skye has done an estimated
350 movies at an extraordinary rate 50 movies per year for her entire hardcore
career. In an interview, she's claimed that she once shot at least one
full hardcore scene for 28 consecutive days.
Such commitment isn't rare in the porn industry but the way Brittney
Skye threw herself so wholeheartedly into her work certainly did not
go unnoticed in the industry. Bizarrely, despite at least 3 years in the hardcore
industry at that point, she was nominated in the Best Starlet
category at the 2004 AVN Awards, but it was deserved recognition
for the work she put in during what was arguably the most successful and impressive
year of her career to date. During 2003 and 2004, she starred in a number of
outstanding films for the likes of Wicked Pictures and Jill
Kelly. She suddenly found herself amongst the bigwigs.
However, many would suggest that the reason for what seemed like a sudden rise
to prominence in the industry was a stunt she pulled in the name of advertising
on an online casino and gambling site in 2003. She streaked across to golfer
Jim Furyk during the sport's US Open
before presenting him with a flower and being promptly arrested for her troubles.
A six month probation period, a $1000 fine and a couple of nights in jail followed,
but it was the serious boost her career needed at that point and it was rewarded
royally.
Almost immediately Brittney Skye was given the chance to step
behind the camera for the Sinsational series which was well
received. However, she wouldn't step back behind the camera for another
couple of years, perhaps feeling that her talents were better fully exploited
in front of the lens. Her decision was justified when she received another AVN
Award nod in 2006, this time winning in the prestigious Best
Couple Sex Scene category alongside Tommy Gunn. She
had well and truly arrived.
Her decision not to commit herself exclusively to one label has certainly paid
dividends, allowing her to flit between companies and also take on non-adult
entertainment related projects such as modelling for a mixed martial-arts company's
clothing range. But, on the whole, she seems happiest in the adult industry
and is still extremely active within the industry and in great demand even now
in her 31st year. The Skye's the limit!
