Julia Bond’s rise to somewhere near the top of the adult industry hasn’t exactly been your normal one. These days, if you want to become a big-name pornstar, you tend to go through one of three routes:-

1) You send a portfolio into a magazine and they either do or do not publish you.
2) You set up your own amateur site and hope a label picks it up.
3) You star in a celebrity sex video.

But Julia Bond didn’t really go through those routes. She had a bigger break than most pornstars get towards the beginning of her career.

In July 2006, she was fortunate enough to appear on an episode of The Jerry Springer Show where she was due to confront her unknowing mother that she was in fact a hardcore pornstar. The fact that few people really believe much of anything that happens on hat show as being reality didn’t really matter. It didn’t even matter if the woman was her mother or not, a fact that is still the subject of some debate.

The appearance significantly upped her public profile, led to a rash of hits for her on Google, and made Julia Bond one of the most sought-after stars in the industry. The chance for a porn site to have a banner on the top of their site screaming, “AS SEEN ON JERRY SPRINGER!” was too much for some to resist.

But even before then Julia had been fortunate enough to experience mainstream recognition. A brief appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno gave Bond a chance to promote a centrefold spread that she had done just 2 months after her 18th birthday, whilst she stole the show at a Free Speech Coalition meeting by proclaiming to anyone that could hear her that she wanted to have sex with Ron Jeremy.

Julia Bond is a new type of pornstar. She’s not the naïve, doe-eyed pretty little thing that likes to wear the odd bit of kinky clothing and maybe show the occasional nipple, hopefully earning enough money to get her through college and maybe a shoot in Maxim one day. She’s ruthlessly ambitious, in-your-face and completely sure of what she wants to do and where she wants to go with her career.

It’s an attitude that hasn’t sat well with everyone. Some have muttered about the breaks she’s received giving her an unfair advantage over other pornstars of her age, but this isn’t a 100m sprint. What is she meant to do? Spot that some other pornstars haven’t had the benefit of a Jerry Springer appearance and hold herself back until they catch up? That’s all kinds of bizarre.

Regardless of whether or not you like her attitude and approach, there’s no doubting that Julia Bond is VERY good at what she does. I first spotted her in POV movies where her expertise at using filthy language spoken in a softly erotic voice whilst servicing a succession of young gentlemen just goes to show you that dialogue certainly can have a profound effect in porn.

Since then, high profile contracts with huge label names such as Zero Tolerance and New Sensations have followed, and appearances on Shane’s World as well. In October 2007, her official site was launched through the Medium Pimpin website network, but the site has been criticised in some quarters for a lack of updates considering the popularity of the star. Some rumours have suggested she may move networks later this year.

As a poster girl for a new breed of focused, driven, knowledgeable pornstars, they don’t come any better than Julia Bond. If you know what I mean.
