It must be a great source of frustration for Lanny Barby that,
for a long time, most of the discussion about her tended to be regarding how you
spelt that name of hers! Such confusion about the correct spelling even prompted
the producers of her official site to buy domain names for every conceivable spelling
of her name - a sizable chunk of money that you can be damn sure that they've
made back.
It's a measure of how popular and well-regarded a star Lanny Barby is these days
that such discussions are but a side-issue. Instead, discussions surrounding
tend to be about whether she is the best anal-specialist performer around these
days. And, looking at the list of superb titles she's starred in, and
the companies she's worked for, it would be pretty difficult to argue
against such an opinion.
Lanny Barby started her career in her native Canada back in 2001 starring in low-budget
hardcore productions, but she soon found herself performing with the likes of
Bruno B amongst others. Soon, the American market started to
take note of her and shoots for the likes of Hustler and Penthouse
followed, as did the coveted Penthouse Pet Of The Month award
for June 2003. It was at this point that her career started to really take off.
Lanny Barby quickly established herself as an anal specialist, with studios such as
3rd Degree, New Sensations and Hustler signing
her to anal scenes with some of the biggest male stars around - in more
ways than one. Indeed, a scene with Julian saw them hit it off to such an extent
that the pair married in March 2005. It proved to be a very successful springtime
for Lanny Barby - several weeks later she signed a two year
deal to become a Vivid Girl.
In 2007 she was nominated for an AVN Award for Best All-Girl Sex Scene
with Sunny Leone. The nomination surprised many - despite
being an anal specialist, she showed herself to be adaptable enough to not only
secure a lesbian scene with a star as big as Sunny Leone but
to excel to such an extent that she would be nominated for an award in one of
AVN's most prestigious categories.
Since then, her career has progressed steadily with no significant peaks or
troughs, although controversy struck her in 2005 when stories started to circulate
that the pornstar Kimberley Franklin was her half-sister. Such
stories have been met with a mish-mash of answers from all manner of different
sources, but in early 2008 a movie featuring a scene between the two was mysteriously
pulled from the official Vivid site with no explanation.
Meanwhile, a partnership with Eromodel Casting, a Canadian
adult company which hosts Lanny Barby official site, appears to have gone sour as she
is now no longer listed as a co-owner of the company. The reason for this act
has never been made clear by either party, although the company still appears
to be hosting her site.
Lanny Barby's position in the company, and indeed in the industry as a whole, is shrouded
in confusion and doubt it seems, and this prolific star, who clocked up as many
as 16 movies a year at one point, seems to be appearing a lot less these days.
But hopefully we're not about to lose one of the industry's sexiest
stars and one of the few truly reliable and outstanding anal performers out
there - however she spells her name!
