With a classic style and subtle sexuality, Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs offers something different to most sites out there.
Even the best photography sites can fall into the trap of becoming formulaic and use the same poses and styles again and again but Ray has 50 years of experience under his belt and draws his large collection of material to come up with something different, special and downright sexy.
From black and white images to mysterious, erotic movies, Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs has a wide range of content available. There are currently over 70 galleries online with most images displaying at around 775x1033.
Although many of the photographs are decades old the quality is surprisingly good and having a collection that spans such a long period of time makes this site pretty unique.
There are 10 videos on Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs. All videos are embedded Quicktime files that play in your browser and there’s a nice easy link to download the program in case your computer is lacking the capability to play them. Movies show at around 240x180 and are each between 8 and 15 minutes in length.
Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs also includes a store, so if you become a major fan of his work then you can buy your very own prints.

Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs has some excellent navigational features, including an unusual category list. Instead of your common-or-garden adult labels, Ray’s list features categories such as ‘Artsy Fartsy’, ‘Mammary Glands’ and ‘Bottoms Up’ amongst others, while the thumbnail beside each leaves you in no doubt what the category is about!
Galleries are easy to browse at Ray Spade’s Vintage Amateurs, with thumbnails leading to good sized photographs and a manual slideshow available for each one.
There’s something to be said for manual slideshows – that way you get to choose how long you gaze at each picture without the slideshow flipping past automatically before you’ve got your fill! The only thing I’d say is that some additional viewing options for movies or the ability to download them would be useful.
