The videos are usually available to view in Flash, MP4, MPG and WMV formats to stream and download, displaying at a highest resolution of 720x480 (4100kbps). New titles are added to this site several times per day.
There has been a notable slowing down in the release of video download sites in the last year or so, mainly due to the rise in tube sites and with more and more sites offering ’tube’ options, Real Vids is a site that is the best of both worlds. Allowing members to choose a conventional video download site style or opt for the more modern tube style, this a relatively long-running DVD site that has wisely moved with the times in terms of how it is set-up.
Its collection is very large by most standards and a quick glance down the studios providing titles here will give you an idea of the quality you will get here. Combat Zone, Coast To Coast, Legend and even the controversial Extreme Associates on board, this is quality stuff. The price may look steep compared to many such sites, but with many of them offering ‘exclusive’ access to a few of the studios featured here for extra cost, it actually works out pretty well in the end.
User Interface
The navigation here was quite good, weighed down by one or two minor problems. Download speeds were incredibly quick at times even on the higher definition videos but the site itself was often extremely slow moving.
Otherwise, things were quite good. Viewing options on the videos were good for both streaming and downloading, while there are full indexes for all the titles, studios and performers that appear on the site. Update information was very good too.
Conclusion
Real Vids is a very competitive DVD site indeed that I believe represents good value when compared to most, but not all, similar sites out there right now. And they do have some very impressive aspects to them indeed.
The collection is an extremely large one with some fantastic title and studio access, the updates are reliable, and the download speeds excellent. But no high definition videos on offer, and that is the area they may need to look at
