Featuring performances from many of the biggest porn names of the past such as John Holmes, Ron Jeremy, and Ginger Lynn this is the perfect site for all you retro porn fans out there.
RetroRaw currently features around 110 full DVDs but no photo galleries. Videos are available in WMV format 640x480 (2000Kbps), and these display in a variety of sizes. All videos are full-length movies too approx 70 minutes long. The site is updated weekly.
I don’t know if there is a big demand or movement for retro pornography in place at the moment, as I’m not very good with ‘trends’. But if there is such a thing in existence, then Retro Raw would be a pretty essential tool on the whole for such people.
What I liked about Retro Raw is that it didn’t just go for the obvious titles and, although there is enough John Holmes here to last a long time, it gave some of the spotlight to more forgotten stars like Seka.
In terms of hardcore action, there was a frantic and rather sleazy nature to this stuff from the 70s and 80s that isn’t really in mainstream pornography these days. They had to shoot on miniscule budgets and could shoot practically nothing on location.
As such, the action is tight and gets to the point extremely quickly. Candy Girls was a particular delight, and is a great title for those of you searching out some of the hotter girls of that era.
This site took some time in getting around, not because it was a particularly slow site (because it wasn’t), but mainly because it doesn’t list enough updates or thumbnails on each page.
Thankfully, the ‘covers’ section is far more satisfactory to browse through. The download speeds were really good on the whole and update information was reasonable. The information on each movie was pretty good though.
Retro Raw was a good delve into the old-fashioned and actually ended up proving that the more things change, the more they stay the same. This has as large a commitment to really dirty hardcore action as anything that is around now.
The hairdos are dreadful and the acting is woeful – but that’s a good thing, as far as I’m concerned. As modern porn loses its sense of humour, Retro Raw could teach these young whippersnappers a thing or two about how to do porn well.
