YoobTV is a DVD and movie site with a difference. Whilst you can’t download any of the videos here as they are all streaming, you can forget about waiting ages for videos to download.
Thanks to a unique in-browser system and ‘TV station’ set up, your favourite movies or pornstars are just a couple of clicks away! All this is coupled with a huge selection of over 4000 movies!
YoobTV currently features around 4000 movies right now but no photo galleries. The videos usually display at a streaming 640x480 size in Flash Player (bitrates unknown). There was no information provided about updates though.
After having a really good look at YoobTV, I was left wondering if I’d actually seen this correctly. This brand new movie site not only has over 4000 movies to offer despite being established only in July, but it also has the fastest download speeds I have ever seen.
Obviously, they’re not downloads but even streaming movies take a while to download usually. It really is the presentation and set-up of this site that is going to turn heads all over the industry and this genre, I reckon.
In terms of the content, it’s as expected – loads of titles across loads of genres featuring all the biggest stars. Easy enough. The ‘TV station’ setup actually doesn’t seem to play that much of a part as you can watch whatever you want, but it’s a great way of introducing you to new stuff or stuff you might not normally watch.
But I have to say that, despite the fact there’s not actually that much you CAN say, that YoobTV is a massively impressive new site.
The presentation and organisation of the site is indeed its big talking point. The speeds of the videos are incredible – the fastest I’ve ever seen, displaying almost instantaneously on only a mid-level broadband speed.
They also display at a pretty reasonable size as well. The categorisation of the videos is actually pretty standard for a site of this type but was in itself quite decent as well.
The TV system is easy enough to use too. YoobTV just needs to look more confident in its design really – it’s just a bit plain.
I don’t mind admitting that
YoobTV excites me greatly and for the first time in a long time, here is a new movie / DVD site that the established opposition should be concerned about.
The download speeds are an absolute dream and leave you wishing that all sites were like this, whilst the archive is insanely large considering this site’s youthfulness. YoobTV is easily one of the best new sites of the year.
